Boundless Femininity

Rainbow Boudoir is a kink and LGBTQ+ friendly photography studio near Buffalo, NY. Our goal is to create a safe space for people of all identities: genders, race, fetish and sexual preference. We especially celebrate queer gender non-conformance.

We founded Rainbow Boudoir as a means to help our LGBTQ+ community see their true beauty as well as have an amazing experience and have tasteful and even erotic photographs for themselves. We provide low-cost services to the community, not for our own profit, but to help folks in the community, especially those undergoing gender transition, feel empowered in their beauty.

We see beauty all around us and it was obvious to me that the trans as well as the entire LGBTQ+ community was underserved in “boudoir.” We have heard tragic and hurtful stories from people we’ve met of photographers turning down transwomen, transmen, and gay and lesbian partners because the photographer didn’t feel “comfortable” or felt shame. The same gap applies to kink photography.

We also provide makeup and “makeover” services that are popular with trans women and crossdressers who get to enjoy a time to “be themselves.” The feeling I get as the photographer to see that contagious joy in their faces is something that keeps me going strong..

We were interviewed for an article from Pink Femme Magazine, which is run by someone who provides content and advice for transitioning and crossdressing people who enjoy feminization. https://pinkfemme.com/all-about-rainbow-boudoir-makeover-studio/

We decided to create an event that celebrates all types of femininity, regardless of gender as a means to bring transwomen, trans men, crossdressers and queer cis women who want to be part of that community of care. We invite about a dozen people to come to our home studio for a day where they can have an amazing time of social comradery with other people who identify with the feminine experience. We have a pool, hot tub and fire pit with s’mores and a guitar-playing entertainer.

We typically include a Shibari artist for simple non-suspension ties to include for photos as part of the experience (hence, the (Un)Bound name). Not everyone participates but it has been an extremely popular option.

I built the St. Andrews Cross on a whim about 2 years ago. It helped us enjoy an upsurge in appointments to have the opportunity to be photographed bound and sometimes with a dom or dominatrix beside them. Last year, I built a spanking bench that has now taken over as the most popular scene.

At our 3rd annual Femininity (Un)Bound in 2023, we had ten different scenes that people rotated around with three different photographers. Scenes included boudoir (bedroom), dark-and-moody, pool table, outdoor garden, fireplace and rose petals, St. Andrews cross, spanking bench, faux shower and blacklight. Some came as couples, some in a triad, and some separately. There are individual and group photos and times to just hang out and get to know each other.

One of our clients told me that as they were sitting with her feet in the pool, “I had a beautiful moment where I sat in the pool and took it all in and just felt the acceptance, warmth, and genuine care for others there without that cultural lens of feminine competition. It made me a little weepy.”

That unsolicited comment confirmed that this is something I’ll do as long as I can.

One of the things I enjoy so much about this work is learning about all the kinks/fetishes that I didn't really have much knowledge of before. In addition to all sorts of restraint and impact play, I have had clients who want to celebrate fetishes such as ABDL (Adult Baby Diaper Lovers), Pet play, gang-bangs, and littles. I try hard never to kink-shame anyone, but of course have some hard limits which are documented.

The fourth annual Femininity (Un)Bound! Is scheduled for July 20, 2024.
